I am an Instructor of Philosophy at Loyola University Chicago. I received a Ph.D. in Philosophy from University of Washington, Seattle in 2010. My undergraduate work was done at Grinnell College, where I graduated in 2001 with a B.A. in philosophy.
Prior to joining the faculty at Loyola, I spent a year as Postdoctoral Fellow in Democracy and Diversity at Queen's University, under the supervision of Professor Will Kymlicka, and a year as Biological Futures Research Associate with the Biological Futures in an Globalized World project.
My research interests include social and political philosophy, ethics, and philosophy of science. My work thus far has focused on ethical issues having to do with public deliberation, public reason, and the "democratization" of science. Current projects include work on multicultural toleration, climate change debates, human rights, and the ethics of immigration. (see Research)
My teaching interests are wide-ranging, and I am currently developing a number of CORE courses for the Loyola University curriculum. (see Teaching)
